Val d'Isere is a part of a large skiing area, called 'Espace Killy' (with Tignes). It is a hometown of Jean-Claude Killy - Winter Olympic Games medalist. Nowadays Val D'Isera is an efficient ski resort, ready to receive international clientele. In contrary to many other ski resorts it has never forgotten about its traditions and rural site. It is famous for the exceptional skiing, but also for its special atmosphere. To go up the mountains you can use 'Funiva' - a very quick funicular that will take you to the top in just 4.5 min (from La Daille to Rocher). Easier slopes can be found on Bellevarde and Tete du Solaise. One of the most famous slopes is Grand Vallon (on Source d'Isere), prepared for rather advances skiers. 'Espace Killy' offers you about 300 km of slopes, with the longest one 5.5 km (Genepy).
