One of the French resorts that offer skiers everything they can dream of, is undoubtedly Meribel. Situated in the heart of the biggest ski complex in the world - the Three Valleys in the Alpes, Meribel is also one of the most modern and well equipped places for practicing winter sports. The picturesque Meribel Valley offers you a total of 150 km of groomed ski runs and 28 km of itineraries. All the skiers can find challenges in this resort, for there are plenty of ski pistes from all four categories - namely 9 black, 23 red, 34 blue and 8 green. Apart from that there are 2 Olympic runs, one slalom stadium and 2 fully equipped snowboard areas. The good organization of the ski runs also contributes to your overall satisfaction - Méribel is the only single resort to offer 16 high capacity gondolalifts.And not only that: 18 chair-lifts (including one 8-seater and four 6-seaters), 14 drag-lifts, 8 telebabies and 1 moving walkway. 650 ski canons, with the capacity to cover 40% of the territory of the ski runs, ensure your full-time skiing adventure, without having to worry about snowfall.

The ski season will open on the 10th of December 2005 and will close on the 1st of May 2006. The resort offers you various discounts, family passes and special promotions.

For those of you who are tired of bringing all the equipment, or if you come from far away - don't worry, there is a full range of possibilities to rent everything you need.

If you are a beginner, or your children make their first steps in this wonderful sport, you can choose one of the 400 ski-instructors who speak English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. For new-style riders, there are pleasant surprises: a fun area dedicated to freestyle, open to all, equipped with jumps, whoops, banxs and 2 half-pipes, where you can learn freestyling in a total safety.

The three resorts Meribel, Courchevel and La Tania offer a combined length of 90 km cross-country tracks: green and blue for beginners and red for confirmed Nordic skiers. In the Meribel Valley you can relish the incredible Natural Reserve of cembro pines at Lake Tueda (Meribel-Mottaret) and the Altiport protected forest.

You can also enjoy off-piste skiing -
For intermediate and advanced skiers, powder skiing and steep skiing with qualified mountain guides. Glacier skiing, discovery of the 3 valleys and of the prettiest itineraries in the Tarentaise region. Ice waterfalls are accessible to anyone, but you have to be in good physical condition.

In Meribel, people have taken care of everything, and they deserve a praise - people with disabilities can also practice sports there: there are opportunities for mono-ski; bi-ski, and English-speaking instructors for visually- or hearing-impaired people, also such that experience the Down's syndrome. (in association with the British Ski Club of the Disabled). You can hike and experience the wild nature - there are 25 km of trails (guided tours also offered), and a pedestrian lift. You can ice-skate in the resort, or practice all types of water sports in the numerous swimming pools.

For those of you who have no limits in exploring the possibilities of the surrounding world, there is even a flying and paragliding school!

When the weather is not good for going outside, you will not be bored: the indoor activities that you can choose from are various: bowling, wall for climbing, casino, four cinemas. There are 2 art galleries, a library and museum with 2 exhibitions.

Meribel is part of the "P'tits Montagnards" network - lifts are free for under five-year-olds and there are kindergartens and entertainment facilities.
This season a range of events will take place in Meribel - in December there will be a Film Festival, in January - a hockey-match between Oxford University and Meribel. In March - National Corporate Ski Challenge, International Customs Ski Torunament, British Land National Ski Championships (for Seniors).
