Skiing in La Plagne

La Plagne is an enormous ski complex in France's Savoy region. There are 225 km of pistes at your disposal and you can use 107 lifts (waiting in a queue will be just a memory when you have such facilities!). You can access the ski runs through one of the ten villages which surround the complex.
In the twenty-first century people have wide experience and lessons from the past and should be much more responsible to nature. During the summer at La Plagne you cannot tell that the territories are ski-runs. Cows and other cattle graze on the wonderful Alpine meadows and visitors can submerge in the mountain idyll without worrying about destruction of nature. The history of the complex dates back to 1940s, when skiing was considered unworthy sport, because it was practiced only by unemployed and groovy people who "wasted their time". But later, it became a mass industry. In the 60s there was another blow at the resorts, because of the big urbanization - many people left the villages and went to seek for their fortune in the big cities. Yet, now the life at La Plagne is harmonious and perfect for active rest. The relief of the la Plagne plateau seems perfectly suited for skiing in terms of its topography and geography. The Plateau is stretched out over a large area, positioned in the centre of a huge bowl-shaped corridor. It is surrounded to the east, south and west by towering mountains with altitudes varying from 2500m to 2700m, thus protecting its slopes from the wind and allowing trees to grow as high as to 2300m.
The ten resorts of La Plagne vary from 1250 m to 2100 m in altitude. In descending order: Aime La Plagne (2100m), Plagne Soleil, Belle Plagne, Plagne Centre, Plagne Bellecote, Plagne 1800, Montchavin, Les Coches, Montalbert, and Chamagny en Vanoise (1250 m).

La Plagne has a ski area ranging from 1250m to 3250 m a total of 220km of piste, comprising of 132 well-groomed runs. La Plagne is part of the enormous ski-complex "Paradiski" - together with Peisey-Vallandry and Les Arcs, which is the second-biggest in Europe after the Three Valleys.
The ski runs in La Plagne are distributed as follows: 11 green ones, 79 blue, 34 red and 10 black ones. There are 105 ski lifts and 255 snow cannons.
Most of the resorts have snow parks, where not only children, but people from all ages can have fun together!

The ski-school facilities are quite well organized - 500 ski-instructors work in the seventeen schools.
Most of the ski-rentals and shops have the pre-booking service, so you can be sure that when you go there, a pair of boots and skis will be waiting for you.

It is justified to rename La Plagne and Paradiski "Paradises for Sport". Apart from ski, you can enjoy para- and hang-gliding, panoramic flights with helicopter, climbing (out and indoor), hiking, fitness, swimming, quad cycling, squash, bobraft, bobsleigh, figure-skating, monobob. From the winter outdoor sports, apart from ski, there are cross-country skiing, dog sledging, only sledging, snow shoes, races, night skiing and night snowshoes.

The term "apres-le-ski" means something like "after party" - it tells you where to go after you've had an exhilarating and energizing days skiing. In other words "Where does the party continue?". La Plagne resorts offer you uncountable opportunities to end the day in a glorious way - bars, pubs, cinemas, night-clubs, gamers' clubs, relaxation centre, paintball, internet centres.

In La Plagne, there's everything you need. The only thing it needs is you.
