Villard de Lans

The French resort of Villard de Lans is one of the smaller ski stations and has direct access to 120km of downhill runs. Villars is situated on a natural sunny terrace, facing a majestic panorama from Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc. The ski area which includes Villars, Gryon and Les Diablerets compose the largest area in the Vaudoise Alps. It is possible to ski at 3000m up on the glacier. The local railway provides easy access from the center of Villars up the mountain to 'Bretaye' for both skiers and tourists.

The village is really beautiful. Neat, small, colourful and magic, it is worth to be seen. Ski vacations are often more than only skiing. The village centre welcomes you with the authentic Swiss cafés, restaurants and the other local attractions. Villars was awarded by the Swiss Tourist Federation with 'Families Welcome'm as the resort is perfect for families because their children are well catered for. Vercors Regional Nature Park is an amazing park with a variety of scenery, flora and fauna. It is a great place where you can walk around and admire the beauty of nature.

A free bus service stops close to the cottage to take you to the piste. The highest slope lies at 2170 m and the lowest at 1160 m. The resort is served by 27 lifts and 29 ski runs (8 difficult, 9 medium, 8 easy, 4 very easy). The slopes are great for all levels of intermediate skiers. Plenty of blue and red runs in Villars among the spectacular scenery and Alpine trees can be found.

For beginners the Swiss ski school in Villars makes it the exact place to learn to ski. The novices will find nursery slopes beside the village and many blue trials, too. Having explored the harder pistes in Villars, experts can go to ski over to the more challenging slopes on the glacier at Les Diablerets. There are many off piste opportunities to enjoy. For boarders there are fun parks at both Bretaye and Les Chaux, and all of them will find appropriate terrain all round the resort to practice and improve on.
