Vaujany
Situated in the Dauphiné Alps, Vaujany has been home to farmers for many years and still retains its rural atmosphere. This French village is one of the smaller ski stations. Vaujany is part of the Grandes Rousses ski domain so you can use Alpe d'Huez, Les Deux Alpes, La Grave, Briançon, Puy Saint Vincent and Serre Chevalier, as well. With pistes above 2500m, skiing and snowboarding is assured throughout the season. There are 2 airports within only two hours drive, so ski weekends or snowboard breaks are perfectly feasible. The skiing is extensive, offering 270km of piste in the whole ski area, with a variety of pistes for all standards and rising to 3300m. Advanced skiers will be happy with the long black runs, including the 16km Sarenne, the longest black run in Europe. There is a good selection for intermediates and beginners. Vaujany is linked by a giant cable car but has skiing and ski school of its own.

Vaujary has excellent nursery slopes and challenging skiing at Grandes Rousses and Pic Blanc (3300m). The 2 black runs down the Sarenne are particularly renowned – one is a sheer mogul slope and the other is a 16km slope into the Sarenne gorge. The resort has 35 pistes served by 19 lifts, more than 60 per cent are dedicated to beginners and intermediates. There are some great pistes around the Vaujany for them. The Alpe d'Huez area can be accessed by the main cable car, and then an easy red trail.

Snowboarders will not be disappointed. For them Vaujany and the Alpe d'Huez offer a terrain. Not too many draglifts in the area making it easy to get around, and a ski school for those starting out. The fun park over at Lac Blanc is easy accessible, there are many runs for all standards of boarder.

Vaujany is proud because in 2001 it was awarded ‘Best Family Resort of the Year’ at the prestigious Golden Ski Awards. Parents can use a kindergarten the cares of their children and a ski school offers packages to children over 4 years old. The hamlet of Vaujany is small but manages to boast a busy après-ski scene. There are some bars and restaurants busy in the early evening and later for dinner, as well as two night clubs.

Vaujany is a mountain village with a rather traditional French atmosphere where you can enjoy new sports centres, swimming pool and sauna, fitness center and open air ice rink.
