Hidden within the beauty of the Maurienne Valley, Val Cenis is one of those less famous, but nevertheless, enchanting French alpine villages. It is in fact composed of two communities - Lanslebourg and Lanslevillard. Both villages are set in a rustic and traditional atmosphere and offer pretty good skiing to suit all abilities. Close to the Italian border and benefiting of the Col du Mont Cenis area, the resort is one of the hidden charms of the French Alps.
The highest lift will bring you up to 2800 m above sea level, while
the resort itself is located at 1450 m of altitude. A large and varied skiing area is at the disposal of all level skiers. Beginners will enjoy quiet first steps along the uncrowned runs. There is also a good variety of easy and medium off-piste, which is quite pleasing and spectacular – smooth meadows and slightly wooded areas. Two parks are at the disposal of boarders. The lift pass also links the resort area with Termignon-la-Vanoise where additional skiing opportunities are to be found.
Besides surfing on the slopes, other tempting activities are offered, including indoor and natural ice-skating rinks, cross-country skiing along picturesque mountain trails, snow-shoeing, dog-sledding, paragliding. Relaxing moments are guaranteed in the resort leisure centre with indoor swimming pool, indoor ice rink and Jacuzzi.
Apres-ski is welcoming and friendly. A nice selection of restaurants and bars cater for your pleasure and entertainment when off the slopes. Night-life is calm, though some of the bars are pretty enjoying. Val Cenis is a great destination for families, beginner skiers and all those will to experience intact traditional atmosphere and some good free skiing.
