St. Francois Longchamp
Situated in the Maurienne Valley, Saint-François Longchamp offers an ideal location. In addition to the easy access, it has good snow and sunshine record. As part of the Grand Domaine, Saint-François shares its ski area with Valmorel. Together, they have 165km of pistes separated by Col de la Madeleine. The diversity of landscape between the two valleys provides lovely scenery with peaks at each corner. The area is particularly adapted to beginners and intermediates with more easy slopes but all three sectors are accessible by blue pistes. Saint-François’s terrain is also sufficiently testing to keep expert skiers interested for a week. 70 per cent of the slopes are dedicated to beginners. The area is served by 17 lifts, from 1450 meters to the highest at 2550 meters of altitude. Experienced boarders can go the boardercross course and half-pipe in the snowpark.

In 1983, Saint-François Longchamp and Valmorel set up the first link between the Maurienne and the Tarentaise, forming the Grand Domaine, the fifth biggest ski area in Savoie, with 160 km of runs.

In the Grand Domaine there are 160 km of marked runs, 1300 m from top to bottom with 54 ski-lifts: 2 gondola lifts, 2 bubble chairs, 14 chairlifts, and 36 draglifts. In total 83 runs for all levels of skiers: 8 black runs, 15 red, 32 blue, and 28 green runs. Artificial snow: 195 snow cannons, a competition stadium, a beginners’ stadium, and eight high located restaurants, one boarder cross, and an area for children: "Piou Piou's Club".

Advanced skiers don't have much of a selection, while beginners are spoilt, with plenty of ski schools, nursery slopes and generous blue slopes. The nightlife is not very rich. There are some restaurants serving the local dishes. Like its neighbour, St Francois is not too far from the nearest airport (two and a half hours to Geneva).

This family-orientated resort has cultivated the friendly mountain tradition of hospitality. The new investment that St Francois has attracted helped to create its image and popularity with French families although it still remains unknown internationally. Après-ski is mostly family-orientated and there is regular entertainment organised by tourist offices. Don’t miss to try! Saint-François is ready to welcome you for a great holiday in the snow and the sun.
