Plagne Center, located at an altitude of 1970 m, is the quintessential French resort village, purpose-built for skiing. The architecture may not be especially beautiful, but what it lacks in appearance it more than makes up in comfort. Two hotels, a myriad of shops, apartments, a cinema, and a dozen restaurants are connected by underground passageways. This village is the center of La Plagne ski region, as the name suggests. La Plagne is the biggest ski area in Europe. A multitude of lifts covers Plagne Center and the surroundings,
allowing skiers to access every piste in the gorgeous Paradiski area.
The village was built in the 1960s. Restaurants, services, accommodation, bars, malls, and shopping areas are all brought together in a way ensuring something for everyone. Nearby you will find Plagne Village and Plagne Soleil, which are officially united in one.
The highest lift in Plagne Center reaches to 2 100 m. The resort offers access to 225 km of pistes, a snowboard park, and 123 runs, of which 106 are for intermediates, 6 for experts, and 11 for beginners. La Plagne has a system of 113 lifts.
Most of the bars and nightclubs in La Plagne are in Plagne Center. Other recreational opportunities include paragliding, fitness centers, and exotic facilities like seaweed baths.
Of course, Plagne Center is most famous for its well-developed ski facilities. The resort was designed with the aim to offer doorstep skiing in a high-elevation area. It was the first of its kind in the country. It ensures perfect ski conditions, being in proximity to two glaciers. Plagne center has established itself as a base of the enormous Paradiski area, the connected areas of Les Arcs and La Plagne with total ski terrain of 400 km served by a system of 142 lifts. Around 20 lifts start at Plagne Center, which are integrated in the larger system. Plagne Center is a great starting point for exploring the entire La Plagne region and all it has to offer, including more than 70 intermediate psites. Most of them start above the tree-line and pass through the glades. There is a number of short and steep black runs for advanced skiers, located on the glacier at 3 250 m. There are many excellent ski schools throughout the resort, a free surface lift in the village, and ideally located slopes for beginners. Therefore Plagne Center is an excellent choice for amateur skiers.
The resort offers four snowboarding parks and two boarder cross courses, with convenient access to both by lift.
Plagne Center offers connections to the ultramodern Aime La Plagne by cable car. The resort has some exquisite French restaurants, including Le Chaudron and Le Bec Fin.
