In medieval times La Clusaz formed around a Christian chapel. It was erected in a narrow valley (cluse) in the region of Aravis, which is how it got its name. The village extends over 5 interconnected mountain areas at an elevation of 1100 m. La Clusaz offers a wide variety of sports and entertainment and recreation opportunities in all seasons. It boasts an excellent snow record with an impressive amount of snowfall from December to April. The resort offers wonderful conditions for snowmobiling, sledding, paragliding, ice-skating, and snowboarding. Naturally skiers can indulge their passion at any of the 25 green, 28 blue, 23 red or 7 black runs.
