At 1450 m above sea level, in the lovely valley of the resort La Plagne, the charming village of Les Coches welcomes you into a winter skiing paradise! The village is one of the several resort settlements comprised in the vast La Plagne skiing area. La Plagne offers access to over 200 km of pistes with guaranteed snow cover of excellent quality, thanks to its altitude and the many north-facing slopes. After the opening of the “Paradiski” cable link with Les Arcs in 2004 it has turned into the largest and one of the most appealing ski areas in Europe.
The village of Les Coches, a nice Savoyard-feeling spot, is a purpose built skiing resort of friendly atmosphere and excellent skiing conditions. Its serenity and variety of amenities makes it a perfect family destination. Despite its lower altitude, excellent snow cover is constantly guaranteed throughout the whole season thanks to the 80 snow canons located up to 1850m. The resort offers skiing opportunities for all. Perfect smooth slopes will suit beginners’ enthusiasm to learn. A local skiing school will assist them and families will be happy to have their children training under the guidance of most competent instructors in the skiing kindergarten. Intermediates can profit of the many suitable runs here as well as all over the La Plagne skiing area. Above and below the tree-line and also on the glacier there is a great variety of runs to be conquered and explored! Experts and skiing freaks will find some of the most challenging verticals and advanced runs, like the ones at Bellecôte glacier, for example. One of the longest runs, going down to the resort village of Montchavin, starts from the top of Roche de Mio. A lot of off-piste terrain is also available for the bravest among you and guided skiing is also assured. A special advantage Les Cloches offers to skiers is the easy access to the Paradiski cable link with the largest skiing area of La Plagne – Les Arcs. The resort area is interconnected during the day and part of the night and allows you to fully profit of all advantages, including some night skiing under the moonlight over the lovely mountains.
Snowboarding is a real pleasure here. If you are new to the sport, all local boarding schools will be happy to teach you their style and techniques. A great surf park near the 'Col du Forcle' welcomes all ardent boarders, and for the most enthusiastic there is plenty of varied off-piste terrain to be conquered. The area around Dos Rond offers very challenging terrain for snowboarders and carvers too.
The vast terrain offers innumerous possibilities for on and off-piste activities – 90 km of beautiful mountain trails for cross-country skiers, ice-skating rinks, snow-shoeing, hang gliding among many others. Lovely walks with experienced guides will take you for an adventure along the winding mountain paths during the day or at night.
Though purpose built, the village of Les Coches has created a unique friendly atmosphere. With its many cosy cafes and bistros, facilities for children and the selection of excellent restaurants, the resort makes a perfect family destination in the heart of La Plagne skiing area. Night entertainment is also assured – bars and restaurants, night-clubs and discos are at your disposal in Les Cloches and the neighbor resorts. Frequently, various events, such as competitions or festivals, are held in the resort, so some more cheer is added to your vacation.
