Plagne 1800 introduction
The French resort area of La Plagne is made up of ten villages, each with a distinct style – from the traditional, cozy La Plagne 1800 to the trendy Aime La Plagne. La Plagne 1800 attracts travellers with its special charm. This low-key holiday destination was in the past a mining village, which retains some of its traditional architecture such as wooden chalets with slate roofs quarried in the area. The resorts offers a wide variety of accommodations ranging from ski chalets to hotels and flats throughout the resort.
La Plagne 1800 is named after its location, 1800 m above sea level. The highest lift reaches to the majestic peak of 3250 m. The longest piste in the resort is 10 km, and the total piste network extends for 210 km. The resort offers a well-maintained snow park for boarders. There are 122 pistes in total, of which 6 for advanced skiers, 106 for intermediates, and 11 for beginners. Plagne 1800 has 113 lifts, including gondolas and chairlifts. There are 65 snow cannons for producing artificial snow.
La Plagne is connected to Les Arcs ski area via the Vanoise Express cable car. This lift creates the combined Paradiski ski area. Plagne 1800 features the well-known Ski Beat chalets, always popular with tourists. A bridge in Plagne Center was completed recently, permitting safe and non-stop access over the main road. The nursery slopes in Plagne 1800 are safe and easily accessible. A vast lift system covers the area and other resort facilities include ice skating, bowling, a heated outdoor pool, and a cinema among others. Moreover, the resort has its own ski school, ski rental shops, and a wide variety of restaurants. For those who require a larger selection of apres ski, there is a free shuttle from Plagne 1800 to Plagne Bellecote and Plagne Center, available until after midnight.
