Les Orres is one of those small and picturesque resorts that with appealing landscapes and tranquil atmosphere to represent the perfect place for an escape from the city. Located right above the Durance Valley and the scenic lake of Serre-Poncon, Les Orres offers you lots of sun and perfect skiing conditions. Old style farm houses and new villas make a beautiful contrast in the village, where the architecture of wooden attics and slate roofs will enchant you. It is a perfect place to fully enjoy your vacation and forget about all your problems and worries.
Winter activities
The Hautes Alps region, where Les Orres is situated, is one of the most attractive in the Soutern Alps and one of the reasons to come here is the large ski area with numerous pistes and lifts. Ski enthusiasts will discover how nice is to slide down on the impeccably maintained slopes and choose among the runs of various difficulty. The top height of the slopes is 2720m and among the 88km of runs the predominant are those of “red category”, followed by those for beginners and off-piste terrains for experts. The lift system was not so well-developed in the past but the progress came after the 1990s when plenty of new transportation facilities were built, such as high-speed six-seater chairs and nowadays the lift served area features a territory between 1600 metres and 2703 metres. For adherents of cross-country skiing the resort offers 40 km of trails and snowboarders can enjoy the snowpark with number of attractions. Do not worry about the snow cover, snow making facilities guarantee the white color of the slopes most time of the year.
Summer activities
Tourism is a widely-practiced activity at Les Orres and in summer a number of hikers attack the scenic surroundings with a rucksack and exploring enthusiasm. There is much to be seen – verdant pastures, rocky summits and alternating hills, which will provide you with unforgettable views. The clearly marked footpaths will lead you through a vast terrain and show you the natural beauties of the mountains. On the bike you can discover meadows dotted with flowers, crystal-clear alpine lakes and thick forests where you can shelter from the sun rays. Horse riding, rock climbing and paragliding are among the other activities a visitor can take advantage of in the resort area. In case you prefer to relax in the village and do some leisure activities, at your disposal are the tennis courts, open-air swimming pool and archery spot.

In this calm village you will find everything except for noisy streets and buzzing nightlife. This is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the little things – small market, carved facades of the houses and fort remains, dating back to the 15th century. A visit to the local church St Marie Madeleine will reveal you its Gothic style and attractive sculptures, impressible for such a small village. There are culinary delights in the local restaurants meant for gourmets and amusements to divert you in the evenings – a discotheque, billiard club and cinema. Those that feel constrained in the resort can visit the Les Orres Station, another nice opportunity for skiers and tourists, set on the opposite side of the valley.
