Les Menuires introduction

General Information
Les Menuires is a ski resort located in the French Alps. The Belleville Museum is located here. There are torchlight visits of St. Martin. Guided visits of Notre Dame de la Vie Sanctuary and St Martin Village Church occur during both the winter and summer seasons. A new, huge sports complex has been built that offers pools, gyms, exercise equipment, and relaxation. There are 60 restaurants and bars in Les Menuires and the Belleville Musical Rendez-vous is scheduled nightly. The ski area is linked with two other areas to form the Les 3 Vallees and with that there are 174 ski lifts and hundreds of miles of slopes to ski and explore. And with 400 snow cannons at the resort’s disposal, whenever the snowfall is not deep enough, Les Menuires can make the snow.

Winter Activities
During the winter, there is plenty of skiing and snow-boarding. The slopes are mainly for intermediate to advanced levels of experience but there are slopes for entrée level of skiing as well. Besides downhill skiing, there are several trails for cross-country skiers and snowshoe-hiking. Dog sledding is available and there are guides to assist in all the activities in the high mountain region. There is an enclosed circuit for snowscooters, or Quad racing, or buggy racing and to test snow driving skills. Lessons are provided for those wishing to learn how to ski or snowboard. There are soccer games on the snow organized every week and a 4 kilometer (2.5 mile) toboggan run.

Summer Activities
Hiking is popular during the summer months. There is an adventure park with zip lines and rope bridges for those who want to swing between the trees. There are concerts held during summer that enchants both classical and non-classical composers. Mountain biking, and paragliding, and horseback riding are other activities available. Also, there is a bubble sphere for those who want roll down the slopes inside a bubble that is 3 meters (about 10 feet) in diameter. In July and August, there are cooking lessons given by expert chefs. Les Menuires is also part of the Via Ferrata, which is a route with a series of fixed cables and bridges so that climbers can follow the route without using their own equipment.

Other Information
There is a huge air bag onto which people can leap. Also, during the winter, a large snow sculpture of a chateau is made, on which the children enjoy playing. Ski races in downhill and slalom are often scheduled in Les Menuires. The cinema has been upgraded to high definition sound and video. There are several hotels and chalets for overnight stays. Grenoble, Lyon, Geneva, and Chambery are the closest airports at less than 200 km or about 125 miles away.
